RAE Program FAQs

How did the RAE program get started?

The Residents as Educators (RAE) program is a voluntary, resident instructional development program that began in the 2013-14 academic year developed in response to an instructional development needs assessment.

The needs assessment included resident feedback collected at the Residents as Educators Orientation exit surveys as part of a quality improvement study of multiple stakeholders’ perspectives on the instructional development needs of residents, in addition to collecting input from residency program directors and other faculty. Observations of resident teaching at the BUMC campuses also contributed to an overall assessment of the type of residents as educators activities needed to enhance teaching in the undergradute medical education program.
