Biosketch

Prior to joining the Office of Medical Student Education, Dr. Pritchard was Assistant Professor of Literacy Education in the College of Liberal Arts, University of Alabama Huntsville (2005-2012). Dr. Pritchard served as learning specialist for medical students as well as residents when she began at the UA College of Medicine in September 2012. Since January 2013, she has devoted full-time efforts to resident development. She assists residents in preparing for step exams and board certification as well as provides guidance for improving communication and other professionals skills. In collaboration with Karen Spear-Ellinwood, PhD, JD, Dr. Pritchard develops and implements instructional development activities for residents who teach in clinical years at the University and South campuses and affiliate sites in Phoenix and Tucson.

Dr. Pritchard also has an appointment in the Department of Pediatrics as Assistant Professor, Educator Scholar Track.  She presents at least one seminar per year in the AMES/OMSE FID Series on designing educational strategies to improve teaching practice and serves as a research mentor in the AMES/OMSE Teaching Scholars Program and assists in conducting workshops for Teaching Scholars addressing the development of their commitment to change projects.
